The miracle goes unnoticed by most
hungry for money, food, clothing, shelter
endlessly in pursuit of love and work

miraculous photosynthesis, host
in a universe unfriendly and cold
rage against climate change, the seas swelter
and coral turn ghostly as crossroads fork
consider the only known source of life
less said, nothing lasts forever, a fold
envelopes this phenomenon of time

guaranteed to go unnoticed, pleasure
only takes precedence, sex, drugs, and crime
egocentric, narcissistic treasure
succulent as cacti, a desert rife

unchecked and widespread with blue agave
nothing but tequila, connoisseurs, drunks
nervous, delirium tremens, enjoy
opuntia found in the Mojave
teleported from cities, desert highs
introduce new meanings, no stinky skunks
capitalizing on the hoi polloi
exploited on commuter trains, paltry
dividends apportioned to homeless flies

burdened by opportunity to knock
yolk-faced cowardice to forward pay

meager the eagerness, life on the dock
obtain order, next stop, while donkeys bray
sinister, asinine tones, a psaltery
tunes the universe, a zither, a ghost
