An Apology ~ Sunday, April 6, 2025

Jody, these days, I envision no love
only repercussions for past mistakes
difficult to say, when I was a child
yes, I made a girl cry, Jody, my dove

that she had your name and brown eyes, not blue
how was I supposed to know, that's the breaks
evil, disturbed boy howdy, rarely mild
sophisticated, psychological
every time I look back, how I eschew

difficult moments that I myself made
ask me if I believe in this heaven
yes, as I live in hell, I made the grade
seven plus seven is not eleven

I envision no love lost, comical

envision the invisible unseen
no love lost on the unseen distant stars
vision misses what the blind cannot see
if as a child, I was blind, I had been
simply unaware of loving-kindness
if distant stars emit light, in our cars
on the expressway, as we drive, a bee
notices only the pollen ahead

no one feels the pain of others, blindness
on my part, as a child, I hurt others

loving-kindness traces the harm with care
once again, in that moment, care bothers
vision to see the unseen with the bare
energy of distant stars, souls undead
