On Truth and Lies ~ Wednesday, September 24, 2025
God knows when we tell the truth, when we lie
or when we feel profound anxiety
despite my faithless elector status
kindness means more than a slice of peach pie
nobody loves like God loves His children
only we see Him without piety
when we take what He gives freely, gratis
still, we imagine He is deaf and blind
we hide like children in forts in the den
heaven knows how we have been led astray
each moment we ignore the needs of poor
nameless nobodies, happiness, so gay
we take for granted, for the day we score
enormous wealth, we horde, until we find
terror and torment awaits after death
each moment, we let go and we let God
lead us to the kingdom, everyone wins
lift the veil of ignorance, the last breath
transforms the self to emptiness, to dust
honesty in actions, like a steel rod
each moment, the mind strays, the lie begins
truth is honor within wisdom, the shame
roots down into our memories, a gust
unravels the ball of thread, hold the clew
tautly as the forces of nature push
honor and wisdom as what the wind blew
when we let go and let God in a rush
how emotions overcome fear of blame
eternal dust, cosmic matter, dark hype
nonsense to disbelieve, our egos hurt
witness what is impossible to see
eternity in a moment, a pipe
lifts smoke into the air, welcome a spy
initiation, what is it all worth
even to deny God, God is a bee
or when we feel profound anxiety
despite my faithless elector status
