On a Distant Prospect ~ Sunday, April 19, 2026

No more; where ignorance is bliss,
'Tis folly to be wise.

Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College
~ Thomas Gray

No more, say less, or say nothing
only words in the way

money is magical, puffing
ominous clouds, so gray
remember moments in the past
empty skies, why does nothing last

whenever I try to look back
how pointless the whole world appears
each day comes and goes, disappears
road trip with a backpack
each day, I open the front door

ignorance everywhere
given everyone knows the score
no bliss to share nowhere
ordinary, average, not wise
realize that people tell lies
ambition tries to fool others
nothing in this world but nonsense
clear a path to see the difference
each to their own, brothers

is wisdom difficult to see
simply learn to discern

bliss is but a drug, LSD
long, slow distance, I earn
interest by running miles
sunny California, all smiles
sunshine summer but all year round

'Tis a sweet land of liberty
in Chicago, just bitter tea
suck it up, outward bound

forget ignorance, forget bliss
only folly wins out
liquid sunshine dazzle, we kiss
let go, without a doubt
yesterday is not tomorrow

tormented by my own sorrow
only to read lost histories

burn the books on hatred and lies
embrace the face of paradise

witness torture stories
ignorance is bliss, as they say
say no more, say nothing
enter wisdom, the clouds, so gray
